Upper West Side - New York City
|

The Upper West Side is located above 59th - north of Columbus Circle and west of Central Park. It is primarily an upscale residential neighborhood, although not as expensive as the
east side. It is host to a number of great attractions and the cultural heart of the city - Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Lincoln Center includes: Lincoln Center Theater, the world famous Metropolitan Opera House or "the Met", Avery Fischer Hall (the New York Philharmonic rehearses on Thursday - you can buy cheap tickets), and of course the New York State Theater - home of the New York City Ballet. Don't miss the Shopping and Dining at the Shops at Columbus Circle, also at Frederick P. Rose Hall - Jazz at Lincoln Center and Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola Nightclub.
Walk up a little further along Central Park and you will find the American Museum of Natural History, a great place for kids and adults alike. Make sure you visit the Rose Center for Earth and Space. Also in the area is the New York Historical Society and the Children's Museum of Manhattan, the Dakota Apartment Building where Beatles singer John Lennon was shot.
Check out Columbus and Amsterdam Avenue for more boutiques, restaurants, and bars.
