Upper East Side - New York City

The Upper East Side is the ultimate in New York luxury. It has some of the most expensive real-estate anywhere in the world. It is located north of 59th Street and east of Central Park. It is the location of Museum Mile. A collection of nine of NY’s best museums along Central Park. Check out Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim for modern art, the Whitney Museum’s American Art Collections, and the grand daddy of them all-The Metropolitan Museum of Art featuring Van Gogh, Monet and Picasso. The Old Carnegie mansion is home to the Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Design. Don’t miss the Frick Collection for a magnificent collection of 19th Century collection of paintings and furniture, and here you will enjoy the work of Monet, Renoir, and Rembrandt. The Jewish Museum on 5th Ave. has one of the world biggest collections of Judaic Art. Located at 103rd street is the City of New York Museum which has a collection of Alexander Hamilton's furniture as well as other antiques related to the city’s history.

The Upper East Side is also home to some high priced shopping. No place if you're on a budget, but walk down Park and Fifth or up Madison to check out the ultimate strip of upscale designer shops. The area is also where you will find some of the best luxury hotels in New York City.
