The Bronx Museum of the Arts is an internationally recognized cultural destination that presents innovative contemporary art exhibitions and education programs and is committed to promoting cross-cultural dialogues for diverse audiences. Since its founding in 1971, the Museum has played a vital role in the Bronx by helping to make art accessible to the entire community and connecting with local schools, artists, teens, and families through its robust education initiatives. In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Museum implemented a universal free admission policy, supporting its mission to make arts experiences available to all audiences. The Museumís collection comprises over 1,200 modern and contemporary artworks in all media and highlights work by artists of African, Asian, and Latin-American ancestry, as well as artists for whom the Bronx has been critical to their development.

Carnegie Hall comes to the Bronx! Join us for a special performance by Brown Rice Family, a high-energy, nine-member ensemble that combines an eclectic mix of musical infl uences that encompass reggae, hip-hop, Brazilian, Afrobeat, jazz, rock, Latin, and funk. With members hailing from all over the world, Brown Rice Family draws on its diverse backgrounds to create a colorful, rhythm-driven, and highly danceable sound.

Revel in dance, community, and urban artistry with It’s Showtime NYC (ISN)! Celebrating New York City street culture, ISN provides performance and professional development opportunities to street and subway dancers as a legal alternative to dancing in subway cars. It’s Showtime NYC performers will showcase dance styles and open the floor for all guests to join.
ON THE SOUTH BRONX WATERFRONT A SHORT FILM BY JUDITH DUPASQUIER
Friday, February, 17, 6:00 to 8:00pm
On the South Bronx Waterfront documents artist Linda Cunningham creating the 24 foot wide, collaged, canvas artwork currently on view in the Bronx Museum lobby entitled South Bronx Waterfront Sagas. The artwork depicts the existing state of the abandoned, inaccessible Mott Haven and Port Morris areas of the South Bronx waterfront. The film explores the social and political issues driving the artist, and considers the relationship between the artist and her surroundings. Du Pasquier became enamored of the Bronx when she was commissioned by French / German TV station ARTE to produce a film about the Bronx in 2010.

OPEN CALL: THE BRONX MUSEUM OF THE ARTS' DANCE AND VISUAL COLLABORATIVE (BXMA CO-LAB) 2017
Deadline: March 1, 2017 at 6:00pm
The Bronx Museum of the Artsí Dance and Visual Arts Collaborative Residency Program (BxMA Co-Lab) is a six-month dance residency at The Bronx Museum of the Arts for a dancer to develop a new work or work-in-progress together with a visual artist utilizing the Museumís performance and rehearsal spaces. The application for the residency is now open.
